In search of the ideal plastic surgeon, many patients often look beyond their hometown, city or state in order to secure a specific doctor whose personal aesthetic sense and style closely matches their own. Traveling to have plastic surgery can be big decision for many, which is why we will do our best to ensure you have a safe, relaxing and successful experience from start to finish.
For patients traveling by plane, Albany International Airport is located just 4 miles from our office and 7 miles from St. Peter’s Surgery Center. Our staff can help arrange for airport pick up and transportation to and from our office for you pre-surgery checkups. We are also happy to help you sort out which short term or ‘extended stay’ hotel is best based on price and service quality.
Planning & Scheduling Your Cosmetic Procedure
In-office or Phone Consultation with DeLuca Plastic Surgery
For out-of-town patients, the process begins with either an in-office or phone consultation with Dr. DeLuca, Dr. Tauber, or Dr. Yan. If you can not make it to Albany for an in-office consultation, the next best option is to schedule a time for our surgeons to discuss with you by phone your surgery goals, answer any and all questions you have and offer his professional opinion as to what’s possible based on the photos you shared via email.
For in-person consultations, a detailed price quote will be provided following your discussion with Dr. DeLuca or Dr. Tauber. For phone/virtual consultations, a detailed price quote will be sent via email shortly after Dr. DeLuca or Dr. Tauber reviews your photos. Should you choose to proceed, our surgical secretary will work with you to schedule a convenient date and time for surgery. You will also be sent a comprehensive information booklet containing prep-op and post-op guidelines and a Lab Requisition for all required blood tests. Please note that all blood tests must be received prior to your travel and/or surgery date.
Pre-Surgery & Post-Surgery Schedule
Once you and your surgeon have decided on a tentative surgical plan, our Surgical Secretary will help you to coordinate all of your travel and surgical arrangements. She will also assist you with finding local accommodations near our office. A deposit for your procedure will be required to secure both your surgery date and pre- and post-op appointments. The balance can be paid anytime before you pre-surgery checkup & chat.
In most cases, patients arrive 1 or 2 days before surgery. New York State Law requires that every patient have someone stay with him/her the night after surgery, so if you will be traveling alone or do not have friends or family in the area, please let us know and we will help you secure post-op care and transportation.
For instance, here is a typical surgery and appointment schedule for an out-of-town breast augmentation patient:
- Day 1 – Pre-surgery examination, consultation and discussion
- Day 2 – Surgery Day
- Day 3 – 1st Post-surgery examination & checkup
- Day 7 – 2nd Post-surgery examination & checkup (required for all major procedures and usually scheduled 7 to 10 days after surgery)
Post-Operative Care and Recovery
In the weeks and months following your procedure, Dr. DeLuca, Dr. Tauber, and Dr. Yan will be available to you 24/7 via email or cell phone to address any concerns or questions you may have. Many patients find it helpful to send photos of their progress and recovery by email.
That said, our surgeons do prefer patients who are able to return for 2 long-term post-operative checkups. Ideally, the first checkup will take place 4-5 weeks and the 2nd 3-4 months following your procedure. Examinations conducted at both the 4-week and 3-4 month post-operation milestones enable Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber to more precisely assess how your body is recovering and in some cases, address minor issues that if left uncorrected, could lead to an avoidable complication.
If you can not make it back to Albany for a post-surgery checkup, Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber are able to communicate with you via email, telephone and/or Skype video conferencing. Of course, if at any time in the future should you return to Upstate New York, we would gladly welcome a follow-up visit in person.

The Benefits to having your surgery performed at St. Peter’s Ambulatory Surgery Center in Albany, NY
The vast majority of DeLucaPlastic Surgery patients are able to have their surgery performed at St. Peter’s Ambulatory Surgery Center – which is located at 1375 Washington Avenue, Suite 201, Albany NY. Built in 2001, the Surgery Center is a Class A medical facility with on-site parking lot, relaxing waiting rooms and close proximity (directly next door) to 5 business class hotels. DeLuca Plastic Surgery prefers St. Peter’s Ambulatory Center for most of his cosmetic patients because:
- The surgery center only allows outpatient cosmetic and endoscopy surgery – this, together with state-of-the-art health rooms and manageable patient volumes greatly reduces the risk of nosocomial infection (any infection that’s a result of having a treatment in a hospital or healthcare service unit) for the surgery patient.
- There are several very excellent board certified anesthesiologists who have vast experience with same-day (re: “ambulatory”) surgery that Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Tauber have worked with for years.
- Deluca Plastic Surgery has its own tightly knit team of nurses that he has personally selected, trained and worked with for over 10 years. The benefits of having a talented and experienced team of nurses during surgery are immense and a big part of why DeLuca Plastic Surgery is able to provide a first-rate surgical experience that is regarded not only for the quality of aesthetic results but patient safety and comfort as well.
Of course, a first-class operating room won’t magically make a mediocre surgeon great. But for a first-rate plastic surgeon with a highly precise and minimally invasive surgical approach, a more effective, efficient and predictable surgery environment makes it possible for out-of-town patients to confidently schedule surgery and plan your return trip home in a predictable and safe manner.
DeLuca Plastic Surgery Procedure Prices are all-inclusive
No one enjoys or deserves surprises – especially with respect to health-related expenditures – which is why the price quote you’ll receive from DeLuca Plastic Surgery covers all possible expenses, including:
