Chemical Peels in Albany NY
Skin renewal at DeLuca Plastic Surgery
A fresher surface. A plan that fits your skin.
We offer TCA (trichloroacetic acid) chemical peels in various strengths, selected for your skin and treatment goals. A chemical peel exfoliates damaged outer skin layers. It may help improve dullness, uneven tone, fine lines, and selected blemishes. The right treatment depends on your skin, your goals, and how much recovery time works for you.
What can a chemical peel improve?
Peels can address surface texture, mild sun damage, some uneven pigmentation, and fine lines. They do not lift substantial loose skin or replace surgery, and deeper scars may need a different approach.
Choosing a treatment
We assess your skin type, sensitivity, medications, sun exposure, previous treatments, and any history of cold sores or unusual scarring. Tell us about retinoids and other active skincare products so we can give you specific preparation instructions.
Light peels generally involve less recovery and may be repeated. Stronger peels require more healing and carry greater risks. We select the TCA peel strength for your skin, goals, and recovery time.
Chemical peel pricing
TCA chemical peel: $250 per treatment. We offer various strengths, selected according to your skin and treatment goals.
Recovery and aftercare
Light peels can cause temporary redness, stinging, dryness, and flaking. Stronger peels can involve swelling, crusting, and more visible peeling. Your recovery instructions will reflect the actual treatment depth.
Use the skincare and sun protection recommended by your provider. Avoid picking or scrubbing peeling skin, and wait for guidance before restarting exfoliants, retinoids, or makeup. Contact the office about increasing pain, spreading redness, or other unexpected symptoms.
Risks and realistic expectations
Risks include persistent redness, darkening or lightening of skin, infection, cold sore reactivation, and scarring. Improvement varies and pigment may return. Active infection, recent tanning, or certain healing and pigment risks may mean delaying treatment.
Other ways to improve skin quality
Laser resurfacing and CoolPeel, IPL photofacial, and SkinPen microneedling address different concerns. A consultation helps match the treatment to the problem.
Common questions
How much peeling should I expect?
It depends on the solution and treatment depth. Light peels may cause mild flaking; stronger peels involve more visible peeling and recovery. More peeling does not automatically mean a better result.
Can a peel help dark spots?
Selected uneven pigmentation may improve, but a changing or suspicious spot needs medical evaluation first. Melasma can recur, and some skin types are more prone to pigment changes after treatment.
Will I need a series?
A series may be appropriate for lighter treatments. The number and spacing depend on your skin and response, rather than a fixed package for everyone.
How much does a chemical peel cost?
TCA chemical peels cost $250 per treatment. We offer various strengths and select the treatment for your skin and goals.
Is a chemical peel the same as CoolPeel?
No. A chemical peel uses a solution to exfoliate the skin; CoolPeel is a CO2 laser treatment. We can discuss which approach fits your goals and recovery time.
